‘Key Information for Students’
All tertiary education providers in New Zealand are required by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) to provide access to a set of basic information related to their qualifications, laid out in a standard format. Known as ‘Key Information for Students’ – or KIS for short – this is intended to allow potential tertiary students to make fully informed decisions regarding programmes they may wish to apply for.
But the information NZGSE is required to link to is generic and not specifically related to our programmes. Accordingly, it is likely to be unhelpful to prospective applicants. We recommend that prospective applicants read the Notes below.
The following notes are included to help with understanding the 'Key Information for Students'.
NZGSE does not use the word ‘students’ to refer those who are enrolled in its programmes. Because schools now refer to their pupils as ‘students’, and as we work extensively in schools, we consistently refer to our own students as interns, or teacher interns.
NZGSE follows NZQA’s convention and uses the word ‘programme’ to refer to a process of study leading to a full qualification. In NZQA terminology, a ‘course’ is a component of a programme. However, the Key Information for Students refers to title "Key Information for Students" NZGSE’s programmes as ‘courses’.
It is important to note that the National Graduate Outcomes reported in the Key Information for Students are not the outcomes for NZGSE’s graduates. The National Graduate Outcomes are a collation from many providers. The employment rate in teaching is higher than 97% for NZGSE’s graduates
There is a similar issue in the section under ‘What graduates earn’. These data do not represent the earnings of NZGSE’s graduates, as they do not accurately represent the salaries of teachers in New Zealand schools.
Key Information for Students includes current fees information about NZGSE’s programmes. The information pack available on this website includes fees information applicable to our next intake.
The Scholarship Information included is not relevant to NZGSE’s programmes.
